Electrical Design and Construction

Single-line diagrams

documentation is essential

An accurate single-line diagram (SLD) is at the heart of every Electrical Maintenance Program (EMP). The 2023 edition of the National Fire Protection Agency’s NFPA 70B has a new requirement that reflects the importance of these records. All facilities must have and maintain up-to-date single-line diagrams, and they shall be the primary reference for all systems studies.

NFPA 70B changes

We are here to help you understand the NFPA 70B changes and provide guidance on crafting a compliant maintenance program.

  • NFPA 70B Chapter 6 makes it clear that single-line diagrams shall be accurate and legible.
  • Short circuit and coordination studies shall be created and reviewed every five years.
  • Incident energy analysis (arc flash study) must also be performed and updated when changes occur in the electrical system.

Data at the Ready

We can help you efficiently navigate the new NFPA 70B changes. The Continental Electrical Maintenance Management Platform (called Conduit) is an asset management software tool designed to automate compliance planning. It seamlessly integrates QR-coded equipment with digital one-line diagrams, employing automated alerts, maintenance tracking, and recording of repair activities. These features are essential to meeting the record-keeping requirements that ensure all drawings and equipment are maintained and compliant.

Our platform can provide:

  • QR coded equipment
  • Digital one line diagrams
  • Condition tracking & scheduling
  • A pathway to cost effective maintenance
  • Reporting and more
